In an effort to expand the programming and enhance the viewers cinematic experience, Studio Folie was invited to present a concept that brought together the disciplines of cinema and perfumery.
To further deepen its audience cinematic experience, "Le Cinéma Olfactif" was launched in 2014 as an ongoing olfactive film screening program for cult, classic, independent and contemporary films. For each Le Cinéma Olfactif screening, an exclusive fragrance is created in response to a perfumer’s personal response to a specific moment or character in a film.
The final scent is integrated into the film screening experience and each viewer leaves the cinema with a complimentary bottle of the fragrance. The program encourages viewers to delve deep into the nuances of a cinematic work of art, and unlock hidden emotions that could only be evoked in an environment where one can experience the visual, audio and olfactive come together to tell a story. The final fragrances offer a new mode of entering a cinematic landscape or character, both within the theater and in one’s everyday life, while suggesting new artistic possibilities for compositions in modern perfumery.
